Hrithik Roshan: The Romantics, a much-discussed Netflix documentary series that pays homage to Yash Chopra & YRF’s heritage and their cultural influence on India and Indians over the past 50 years, was released on February 14 to universal acclaim and adoration. Hrithik Roshan, who played a sophisticated thief in Dhoom 2, talks about what makes the Dhoom franchise the coolest in India right now in the documentary series.

“Dhoom is one of the biggest franchises in the country,” claims Hrithik. Nothing of the such had ever been tried, done, or mastered, which is what I believe happened with each Dhoom series—it just got better and better!

Aditya Chopra’s desire to provide India with a new breed of heroes who will be gray gave rise to the idea for Dhoom. He envisioned this new breed of anti-heroes as thrill-seekers who wouldn’t hesitate to breach the law. Hrithik continues, “I was convinced that he (Adi) would be a filmmaker. He has the ability to support his ideas, like the Dhoom trilogy, and turn them into spectacles and blockbusters for the big screen. But in my opinion, he has gone far beyond. I believe he is now more than just a filmmaker. In my opinion, he is a more comprehensive developer of cinema. He’s the innovator in our field.

The mega-stars and legends of Hindi film have gathered to discuss Yash Chopra and YRF’s contribution to Indian cinema in The Romantics, including Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Ranveer Singh, Rani Mukerji, Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif, and Anushka Sharma. Smriti Mundhra, an Oscar- and Emmy-nominated director who previously worked on Netflix on Indian Matchmaking and the Never Have I Ever series, is back with The Romantics.
